My favorite agency, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, has decided to give the Volvo pitch “The Elbow” as we used to say in Britain. According to the trade rags, this is so they can chase something four times as big… Although they’re not saying, it’s obviously the Hyundai account. Which just gave “The Elbow’ to incumbents, The Richards Group… But here’s the weird bit… The press states that Hyundai COO, Steve Wilhite, and the companies new CMO, Joel Ewanick, would invite a select group of agencies to pitch. And, it just so happens that until a couple of weeks ago Mr Ewanick (does that mean he’s related to the Eewoks?) was the head of account services at The Richards Group… What the fuck is that all about?
